...music is a reflection of society -- uplifting (if disco & pop & rock & some hippy can be called that!) music indicates a positive outlook and hence higher percentages of Greek involvement would ensue...the negative hippy (not all hippy music was negative or anti-establishment -- I Lived that era!!) music and the alternative grung and some rap are downers and indicate inwardly-turning & self-centered attitudes -- not what meshes best with Greek membership...
...that's my two-cents worth!
