I respectfully disagree. I think it's okay if we discuss politics in the politics forum.
We just need to be cautious about being respectful and kind to each other and not repeatedly dehumanizing people by following them from thread to thread merely to call them names like "goblin", "troll," "witch," "ogre," etc., or trying to delegitimize their perspective by questioning their race or national origin.
