I attended university in the UK for my postgraduate studies. I was a little bit surprised by the nightlife scene among the undergraduates. They do pub crawling, but on steroids. Like, binge drink pub crawling.

However, what was really shocking and disturbing to me was the very public hazing of students in university-sponsored clubs/societies and sports teams. I mean, they outright published photos of the physical hazing and forced binge drinking in the student newspaper. So, I am not surprised to hear of problems in the fraternity. It seems to me that British universities have a general problem with their student societies running a bit wild. That said, those in St. Andrews would be very naive to think that such assaults are limited to the "US-style frat house".

Edited to add: I just read some of the Instagram posts by students who posted accounts of their rapes/assaults. I didn't read all of them; but, it does appear that these #metoo posts were not specifically targeting AEPi like the CNN article suggested.
