I also read Cane River (I think there's a discussion on here about it) and I did enjoy it. It was slow at times, but overall a good read. Another Oprah book that was pretty good is
While I Was Gone by Sue Miller. It's about an average, middle age woman with a lot of skeletons in her closet. I'd recommend it.
