I have a cable connection through Road Runner and have been very pleased with it. In the four months that I have had it, there has only been one time that I did not have service -- the day following installation they were working on the connection city-wide for about two hours.
Although DSL is available in certain areas in my city, it is not availabe in my neighborhood. Like someone mentioned earlier, you have to live in close proximity to the server. There is also another cable connection through a second cable company in the city; however, they are a lesser known cable company and I didn't feel comfortable going with them. Plus, it would only have been like $3 cheaper.
