Theoretically, every girl going through recruitment could receive a bid at Ole Miss. Of course, some may drop out, some may receive no invitations due to grades, personality or general sluttiness, but quota is set to MAXIMIZE not minimize placement and frankly, the placement rates at the famously competitive SEC recruitments are quite high.

As Katmandu states, quota( the maximum number of new members each sorority is allowed to extend a bid to) is set to maximize the number of girls who WILL be able to join a sorority. Basically Panhellenic takes the number of girls who have attended pref parties and divide that number by the number of sororities -100 PNMs goes to pref parties. There are 5 sororities. Divide 100 by 5 and quota is 20. Each sorority is allowed 20 new members from the girls(out of the 100 who attended prefs) that attended one of their pref parties. With the exception of one campus, if you make it to pref round you will be offered a bid.
Now 200 girls might have begun rush. Some might be dropped for low GPAs. Some may be dropped because they do not have recommendations, ( on many, but not all campuses), some might be dropped because of reputation.
In that same vein, some PNMs might CHOOSE to drop out. They decide that sororities are not their cup of tea, they can't afford it, but most often because they don't like the choices they are left with.
So moms and PNMs, please don't lose too much sleep over what the OP posted. He has not participated in sorority recruitment and his DD has not participated on the sorority side yet.
