Ours is about half formal, half informal. There are, of course, all the rules I've mentioned before, plus there are several days of closed rush, Sun and Mon are both closed I believe, as is the entire week of homecoming. I think we also have a fall break in there that's closed rush.
In addition to this, we have a weekend of "informals" where the freshman floors take turns touring all of the houses, getting general info and whatnot.
Then there are 2 weekends of "formals" where the freshmen have scheduled times to go to each house they choose, and there's an interview of sorts, mostly just shooting the breeze. Before and after the interviews, there is like a mingling party type deal, where we all just stand around and talk. For "first formals" they can go to 6 houses I think.
Then a few weeks later we have "second formals". During first formals, we're narrowing down the field to the guys we want. At "second formals" we're basically giving them more info, and giving them a reason to join.
The rest of rush is basically "open" with those specific rules applied, no alcohol, no talking about other houses, etc. i hope this helps.
