Summer_gphib's post reminded me of a type of April Fool's joke that I've seen twice now.
A couple of girls I was acquainted with during college coordinated with their boyfriends to pretend that they got engaged on April Fool's Day. This happened during two separate April Fool's Days, neither of them is friends with the other.
Both of them took a photo with their boyfriend and a prop ring and captioned it something that clearly implied they were engaged. Friends and family took it seriously, and it was pretty awkward to see a status update that said it had just been an April Fool's joke.
Neither relationship seemed to last long after that prank.
