We did this. We were on the sixth floor, and had the whole floor. The pledges got off the elevator to find a string with a nametag for them. The strings went all over the common areas of the floor, with trinket-type gifts, and clues, along the way. Of course, string color changed, handwriting changed, etc. so nothing was a given. With our largest pledge classes (around 10-12 women) though, it took over an hour.
It's one of my most cherished memories.
I'm told they no longer do it because
someone might think it was hazing. I don't get that, but that's part of why I don't advise a chapter directly.
For a large number of women, I can't imagine doing it indoors, or making it very convoluted, but it sure could be fun.
