There are some books I can't bring myself to read. I used to work in a library and you see tons of items come across the desk and get recs from patrons and co-workers alike. Saw the "Gone Girl" movie. Never wanted to read it since if I read something I need AT LEAST one likable character. Don't know if all of Flynn's books are so miserable. I love mystery, suspense, thriller, etc, but there has to be someone I'm cheering for and some sort of satisfying ending. I don't read so I can be more miserable. I'll watch the news for that.

Patrons have also told me that "Casual Vacancy" by JK Rowling has no likable characters so I've avoided it too. They've said the only somewhat likable person dies off early. LOL
