Here's the answer for you. NONE OF THIS MATTERS. Go through rush. Have a good time, stay positive, handle the cuts and inevitable rejection with dignity and grace and all you can do is deal with the outcome as it happens.
The California schools are reasonably open to upper classwomen. Major doesn't matter. It only takes one so don't worry about what individual chapters may or may not prefer.
