I do like your argument to the effect of "those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it" - this is something that must be done for the security of the region - Saddam is very adept at working on the opinions of the world - while hiding true ambitions.

A few thoughts from history on this - this is very similar to the position that England found herself in the late 1930's - does anyone recall Chamberlain's visit with Hitler, and "peace in our time?" The true outcome was WWII.

Also, Japan's build up in the 1930's - "we're building refrigerator's while our enemies build bombs"

Aamco commercials - remember these? "You can pay me now, or, you can pay me later" - we're in a quandary that we will sooner or later have to go to war with Iraq - the question is, is the United States going to do this proactively or reactively, and, which path is less costly in American lives?
