Get out of your head the idea that Greek life is only for "typical preppy blonde skinny girls. " I'm fairly certain that one close look at the websites of your campus's chapters would prove that notion wrong.
We can't give you odds as to whether you'll get a bid or not. The most important things are to keep an open mind, don't listen to or read rumors about stereotypes of chapters, and remember that rush is supposed to be fun. If you're worried about being shy, you have all of winter break to work on that. Go to the mall and have conversations with the clerks, just to get used to talking to random people. Figure out what you want to wear and make sure it all fits and is flattering. Good luck!!
