The thing with the AF award is that someone who gets the award SHOULD live up to her name/career.
Has Ashanti taken up a "cause"? UHHH, NO (I guess the murrrrder handsign???)! Has she had to endure any hardships? UHHH NO! Didn't it take Aretha longer than 8 months to make it or to pay her "dues"? Didn't Aretha write ENTIRE songs, not only HOOKS? YES. Isn't she a musician? YES!
Let's look at the Lena Horne Award: Who is getting it? Isn't it Angela Bassett? Does she look like Lena? HELL you know what NAW! Has Angela had a terrific, LONG acting career, like Lena? Yeah! Has Angela paved the way for AA females, like Lena? Yes!
