A scorpion bowl is basically a huge bowl of fruit juices (orange, cranberry, lemon, grape, etc), mixed with saki, rum, and 151. Different Japanese restaurants mix them different ways, sometimes with different juice, sometimes different liquor. Basically, two people can split a bowl and get pretty buzzed. A couple of them will have you and your date pretty much floored - it is probably the most fun you can have at an otherwise respectable restaurant.
Plus it sounds cool to say, "we're going Scorpion Bowling at Maluken."
One caveat - they cost between 14-18 dollars per bowl . . . so you pay to play, but holy jesus is it worth it. It's definitely a staple of our house - I'm not sure if it's just a Boston thing, but I'd seek it out. Other names include "Volcano Bowls" and stuff like that.
