Absolutely reputation makes a difference. Well, let me rephrase. It makes a difference to freshmen. They come to school and don't know much about greek life, and all the know is what they hear. If they hear ABC group is all the pretty girls and XYZ is all the nasty slut girls, they are obviously going to lean towards ABC. With sophmores and junior rushees, they tend to be a little more open-minded and want to learn about the place before they pledge.
This problem wouldn't be so bad if the dirty rushing stopped, but it won't, so you live with it. By the way, my sorority is a middle of the road group. We never get all the women we want, but we get the ones that will benefit us. That's what's important.
