All I need to know in life, I learned in my freshman year of college...
~ As the one commercial says, Life Sucks Without a Car. True! But now, sometimes (when I'm DD for the zillionth night in a row) I wish I didn't have one!
~ Don't judge a book by it's cover. My roomate and I are 2 totally different people, and even look complete opposites, but we became and still are best friends. She said the first time she saw me (coming home from Prefs, gabbing about rush), she thought she was going to hate me because I "looked like a sorority girl." (Now she loves me and my sisters.)
~ Getting involved in an organization is the key to meeting people and making friends. I happened to join a sorority, other people may join SG or Ceramics Club, but all are great ways to make contacts throughout campus.
~ Buffets are disgusting. I will never step foot in another salad bar restaurant/cafeteria type place. Now I know why my father (22 years in the Army) hates them too, after eating in mess halls the first few years of his career!
~ Partying like it's 1999 won't cut it in 2000, or any other year for that matter! In college, unlike high school, you actually have to study to pass...what a novel concept.
~ Beer then liquor, never sicker. Liquor then beer, in the clear!
~ Technology is your friend, thank God for email, the internet, and cell phones!
~ Be grateful for what you have, and work hard to keep it. Not everyone has the privilege of going out of town to go to a 4 year school. Don't mess up a scholarship that you've been awarded, do what you need to do to keep it every year.
~ To everything there is a season...there's a time to study, and a time to party. Knowing the right time: PRICELESS!
~ Keep drama to a minimum, college is not a soap opera.
~ "Boys=genetic garbage" (quote from my little) OK, not really
I've found that in college, one's life is in a constant state of change, and that is not the ideal environment for finding the person he/she wants to spend the rest of their life with. Congratulations to everyone lucky enough to have found true love in college, but for me, I want to be in a more stable environment before that happens.
~ Don't try too hard to grow up. "Act your shoe size" once in a while, because college is the last time you'll be able to do it without getting serious flack.
~ Life's short, skip dinner and eat dessert, because it's the best part of the meal.
