Since I had so many contributions to the Ghetto thread, I figured I'd better respond to this one or you guys would start to wonder about me! I have been to quite a few beautiful, classy weddings. Some where I know they will be paying for it 10 - 15 years later and some that were done on a budget.
My husband's cousin and his wife got married at the JOP, but had a reception later. Their minister did a beautiful ceremony to bless their union. They had a child before they got married and he added him to the ceremony as well.
My pastor's brother got married last year and the ceremony was absolutely wonderful. Pastor, who ironically is not married, practically preached a sermon about what it means to 'leave and cleave'. He had ever married couple in the place moving closer to gether. It was like I was getting married all over again. There was not a dry eye in the house. Even MY husband cried! He also had some lovely things to say about his sister in law while welcoming her to the family. Then after he pronounced them man and wife and introduced them to the church he just started laughing and saying "My brother is married! Can y'all believe my brother is married?? I love you man!!" as they were walking out the church. It was very cute. He even started crying.
When my husband's sister got married several years ago her husband suprised her by reading a poem to her during the ceremony. I though she was going to pass out or hyperventalate (sp) because she was crying so hard. Then he started crying and they were just blubblering "I love you" "I love you too". It was funny and cute at the same time.
I was in a wedding last summer where there was a string quartet. Absolutely beautiful. I felt like I was floating!
I have many more, but I stop now. The most beautiful weddings to me are the most heartfelt. Whether you have imported flowers and silk designer dresses or not, whether you can afford a sit down dinner with 7 courses or not, the best wedding are where you KNOW the couple is committed to each other and truly in love with each other and the Lord!!
