My freshman year was a mixed bag. I started at Tulane and I was miserable from day 1. ALL of my friends and my boyfriend were at LSU. Plus, I just didn't really click with anyone. I hated my classes, my major, everything. There was major roomate drama and I eventually moved home and commuted for part of the semester. I was miserable. The worst $5K I ever spent.

The second semester, I transferred to LSU. It was totally amazing. I was more comfortable being around people I knew, and just other Louisiana people in general. I found the Yankees at Tulane to be MOST unfriendly and condescending to southerners.

I did learn a few lessons:
1.) No matter how much you think you want something, you won't know until you get it. Tulane was my dream school. It turned into a NIGHTMARE. Why? Because when I visited, I saw what I WANTED to see, not what was there.

2.) You can go to college and stay with your HS sweetheart. You can stay with him/her all throughout college, if its meant to be. My guy and I will celebrate our 5th anniversary on Sept. 7

3.) Its a lot easier to deal with a school being crappy if its free, like LSU was. I felt like I was being raped at Tulane - it was crazy expensive (even with massive scholarshp money) and everyone treated me like crap. At LSU, I could always say "well, you get what you pay for!" And overall, it was a pretty good school
