The reason I think that NPC sororities turned down the chance to do "Sorority Life" is simple: In our new member program, we tell our nm that they are not allowed to drink in their letters. Why? Because if tomorrow night I decided to get drunk in one of my DZ shirts and strip at the Pike house, the next day, word around the water cooler will not be "Man! Blaire stripped for us last night! Can you believe it?!"...instead, it would go something like this "Man! Some Delta Zeta stripped last night! Can you believe it?!" Then, unfortunalty, my organization will carry that stigma for years to come. Thats sorta what I think is going on here. We are generalizing Sigma into one group, instead of looking at the individual. If my chapter had signed up for this, you'd better believe that things would get said or done that I would NEVER want the nation to see. It's natural, really. All organizations have their ups and downs.

I do not condone slapping. It has NEVER occured in my sorority. However, I have been slapped before. It would have been mortifying if the whole world saw me get slapped accross my face by one of my best friends (FYI...we are no longer friends). Like I've said before, I feel sorry for these girls...but in a way they should have seen it coming.

I have also never hidden behind my letters; however, I will say that sometimes I keep my thoughts to myself in order to maintain DZs rep. (Not saying that everyone should do that; its just my way of doing things! So please, do not put words in my mouth).

I honestly think that Sigma AEPI had the right intentions and I hope in the long run that this helps them and does not hurt them. Because, who knows? In a different place and time, I could have been one of them.

Much Greek love,
Blaire
