At my school we are basically required to wear letters before and during recruitment (this is the first year classes are starting before recruitment). It's because we are not allowed to talk to the PNMs, and they can't talk to us. So if we are wearing letters, it lets the PNMs know to stay away (geez, that sounds terrible, but y'all get the point - I hope.
