Alabama has a very high percentage of out of state students and that is reflected in the make-up of the girls who go through recruitment - I believe over 65% of the girls are OOS.
OOS girls are less locked in to the perceived tiers and may bring with them different preconceptions about a sorority based on how strong it is at campuses closer to home. I think this factor has a lot to do with how high the placement rate is at Alabama.
