I never got dropped (that's what we call lavaliering) by my husband. But when we got engaged everyone in his fraternity thought it was great and congratulated him, bought him drinks, hugged me, hugged him, told us how excited they were, etc. It was definitely a good experience for him. However, if I had been a roboslut or a total bitch or something, they might have razzed him. Typically on our campus, his fraternity doesn't do stuff like that but a few fraternities at our alma mater have been known to tie a brother to a tree, or just generally give the guy a hard time (hence, not many fraternity guys getting engaged before graduation...).
