I think you should go for it, WhiteDaisy!

Being a Delta Gamma is one of the best things in the world, and being a charter member of a chapter is like icing on the cake. I can tell you this because I am a charter member myself, of Eta Eta chapter at Spring Hill (the same chapter of Colleen who posted above - Hi Colleen!

).
I know that being a member of this chapter will be forever rewarding to me, and I definitely want to recommend it to you. More than joining a sorority that is already established, working through the colonizing process will give you (and your new sisters) the abliity to mold your chapter into whatever you want it to be. It is not the easiest thing I have ever done, but there have been plenty of other Delta Gammas that have helped us immensely along the way. If this sounds like your cup of tea, then being a member of a colony is the thing for you. You'll never forget the experience AND you'll be one of the few Delta Gammas who get to attend their chapter's own Installation (where the colony recieves the "title" of chapter).
I hope you'll be a sister one day soon! Good luck!
Jennifer
PS - You will be eligible to be an officer during colonization, but (as said before by someone else) you are elected or appointed by the rest of the colony.
