Maybe it's more of a guy thing but I always had a lot of comments on how cool it was. However don't go stealing ones that are already on the poles. That only makes it easier to get caught (or kill someone).

I have done the same thing with my room, it adds a little bit of flavor to it. It seems like guys don't comment on it very much, mostly girls, but it seems like everyone thinks the autographed stop sign is pretty cool.
