Well, the way my doctor explained it to me is the BC fools your body into thinking it is already pregnant so you don't become pregnant, so at first you might have the same symptoms. I have been taking Alesse for over 2 years now and I love it. I never have cramps and my period is very light to the point that I can get away with the lightest absorbency tampon.
