Plus, I think reading more about why she chose an NPHC over an NPC might go a long way to explaining the differences between the two conferences (beyond predominant race of their members). While I have my perceptions, and can appreciate the value in both, I'd love to get a clearer picture.

I think the closest thing you might find to this (and even that's a long shot) would be to read DSTren13's NPHC recruitment thread. I loved her story.
