Long time lurker here. I'm also a forensic analyst. Snapchat does keep a copy of everything you send. The app has a database and every thing is stored in a table. Just looking at the table, it doesn't appear to be a picture, but once I export the files and slap a ".jpeg" on the end of them, all those pictures appear. I use this technique to get bad guys every week. But yes, the company is lying when they say that the image goes away. It's right there on your phone and it's on the phone of the person you sent it to.

I have to wonder if Chi O did any forensics to determine if the person in question sent the image.
