I love new colonies, as I'm sure we all do, and to see my sorority succeeding, again, as I'm sure we all do. I really want us to find a way to be back at Bama. It's a huge school with amazing greek life. And we definitely need that foothold in the SEC. Plus the University is so cooperative! I mean, they've already loaned millions of dollars to other sororities to build. 30 years is plenty of time to repay the loan! What I don't understand is that we did submit in 2007 (for 2008) with Alpha Phi and Delta Gamma, when they were selected to be stacked. At least according to the Colonies/Expansion thread from that year. So I don't understand what the hold up is now, if we were interested then, and greek life keeps growing and the options for a house are there, etc etc, why shouldn't we be interested now?

The economy took a bath in 2008. It's possible that resources which were available in 2007 are no longer where they need to be for your HQ to feel comfortable with the level of risk.
