Grammar is taught in elementary school. Proper and correct grammar is applied in college.

taught:
past and past participle of TEACH
1 a : to cause to know something <taught them a trade> b : to cause to know how <is teaching me to drive> c : to accustom to some action or attitude <teach students to think for themselves> d : to cause to know the disagreeable consequences of some action <I'll teach you to come home late>
2 : to guide the studies of
3 : to impart the knowledge of <teach algebra>

applied:
past of APPLY
1 a : to put to use especially for some practical purpose <applies pressure to get what he wants> b : to bring into action <apply the brakes> c : to lay or spread on <apply varnish> d : to put into operation or effect <apply a law>
2 : to employ diligently or with close attention <should apply yourself to your work>
intransitive senses

My post wasn't mean to be humorous, but to educate. Technically you should have gotten that.
