UCLA Greek Life is growing and growing!
And, the Greek Life office still expects NM classes this Fall of 60-70 with some groups totaling around 180-200. Most chapter dining rooms don't fit more than 120 and many of the GLOs are having to have chapter on campus (because our chapter rooms were built for a maximum of about 100).
Future expansion will be happening at UCLA. (At one point, 24 of the 26 NPC groups were on campus ...!) If your GLO isn't here, keep this info in the back of your brain!

Yup - Gamma Phi was gone for about five years in the late 90's. Alpha Chi Omega was supposed to recolonize only a few years after Gamma Phi, but recruitment numbers started going down, and the expansion was pushed off. There was some Greek-wide discussion about their return my sophomore year (2002/2003), and I believe Panhellenic or Alpha Chi (or both) voted to hold off.
From what I'm hearing second-hand about Greek life at UCLA, the first thing that needs to be worked on is size parity. If several organizations aren't hitting quota, then it makes bringing on more chapters less beneficial to help even out those numbers. For whatever reason (campus or Greek life climate or coincidence), new chapters aren't thriving the way they are at other campuses.
