This is terrifying. My prayers go out to that entire community.
I almost enrolled in the UCSB doctoral program--if I had, I'd be a 3rd year there with my friend J. I am SO grateful he let us know that he's fine but...the only difference between me being here or in the midst of that tragedy is a decision I made 3 years ago. Life truly is fragile.
