I just want to add that it's actually pretty normal for groups to ask very young alumna to not serve in advisory roles. Perhaps it was unavoidable when your group was very young, and I know my own group has done it when there weren't other alumnae in the area, but a 3-4 year waiting pattern is not out of the ordinary.
