Like many on this thread, I am a devoted fan of DD coffee and make it at home every day. I grew up with Krispy Kreme and that *used* to be my hands-down fave, until... I discovered a little local shop here in Phoenix called
Rainbow Donuts. Not only do they have amazing doughnuts in all the expected flavors, they also make a couple of specialty flavors topped with chopped bacon. And (be still my beating heart!) they are the only shop I've ever seen who makes kolaches just like I came to love in central Texas. The clerk explained that their head-baker used to live in Texas, where almost all of the independent doughnut shops make them. Rainbow Donuts attracts displaced Texans coming from all over Arizona to get them.
And if that's not enough for them to win the GreekChat donut battle, one of the reviewers on yelp said this:
