Yield signs mean to yield therefore:

1. I slow down and stop at yield signs when I cannot see whether there is an oncoming car. If the street is conducive to seeing there isn't an oncoming car as I drive to the yield sign, I keep going.

2. Yield signs mean to yield and stop when there are cars coming. It is unfortunate when people think "yield" means to race in front of the oncoming car rather than stopping for the oncoming car.
