You're right that I should've known better than to use the word "cut."
At the time, that's what I thought I had done, and I was trying to convey that, but I probably should have clarified that even though I thought I was "cutting" the chapters I didn't want to be invited back to, I was merely ranking them in order of my preference. All "cutting" is done on the sorority side.
