It happens at many places. My prefs started after a chem lecture. The lecture was in a room of 200 people and there were a bunch of us all in cocktail dresses with our hair and make up done.

This happened all the time with members in our a cappella rush. We would have to be ready for pref night in full black tie at 6, so we'd be in class all done up (men and women). With black tie gigs happening all year, you might see us not only in class but at meals, on the bus, rehearsals for other shows, etc. in totally inappropriate evening wear. It was fun, though! Post-concert IHOP in formal dress was always the best part of the night.
