C'mon, now, give the producer and director a little credit
FOR THE RECORD,
Trois was co-written by Rob Hardy (director) and William Packer (producer). Both are in our age range (28-29 years old) and are Florida A&M graduates. Rob is an Alpha and William is a Que (or vice versa).
I will give them credit for at least trying to break down the door for providing quality Black erotica. I liked the movie, because I felt there was some potential for these brothers. I think the plot needed a little work, but considering these cats were still novices (their prior work was Chocolate City, filmed @ FAMU in '93(?)), they deserve a[nother] chance.
Technically, the movie was rated NC-17, but the deletion of certain aspects of the "trois" scene (which I saw, while it was brief, it had my jaw dropping), downgraded the rating to an R status.
For those of you with DVDs, rent that and turn on the director's commentary. Hardy and Packer gives you the lowdown on the details of filming and why certain scenes were shot in such a way. Personally I loved the commentary, and even laughed along with them when they cracked a joke or said something humorous. I actually want to own this film b/c they made me feel like I was watching it with my closest friends.
ALSO, they will be coming out with a 3rd film either late this year or sometime in 2003 called "Pandora's Box", which features Michael Jai White, Monica Calhoun, and Chrystale Wilson.
Anyhow, give these brothers a chance to show their talent before you start knocking their work.
Much Luv,
RM
