Hi guys! So last night was philanthropy night, I got invited back to five parties, which was really exciting!
1. Green Lantern
2. Batman
3. Spiderman
4. Hulk
5. Iron Man
I didn't understand how I wasn't invited back to Captain America. I thought that I had hit it off so well with every girl I had spoken to, and I really intrigued by their philanthropy and their sisterhood. However, I was so excited to have been invited back to Hulk and Batman!
Green Lantern was first. These girls are so passionate about their philanthropy and their sisterhood. Although these girls wouldn't normally be considered 'my type', I felt that I could talk to them really easily. I have to admit, I cried during this party because I have such a strong connection to their philanthropy. The more time I spend with this chapter, the more comfortable I feel, but I still haven't felt a real click with any of the members.
Next up was Batman! This house was even more amazing than the night before. I feel such a strong connection with every one of these girls. The first girl I talked to asked me about my family, and it turns out that her mother had the same illness that my mother was recently diagnosed with. Even though I had just met her, she made me feel so reassured and at ease. Each girl that I talked to last night already knew to address me by my preferred name, and said that they had already heard a lot of great things about me. Also, most of the girls I had talked to the night before came up to me again and said that they hoped I'd be back tomorrow so they could talk to me again. I feel so special at this house. This chapter is standing out to me far more than the rest right now.
Spiderman was my next party. The girl that I talked to was much less awkward than the two I had spoken to the night before, she seemed really interested in talking to the PNMs than about herself. However, she asked me three questions during the nearly hour long party. The rest of the time she spent talking to the other PNM in my group. I didn't really mind this since I already felt awkward in the chapter to begin with though, she and the other girl seemed to really hit it off.
Hulk was my next party. I talked to three girls this time. The first two were really easy to talk to. The third seemed a bit nervous/awkward, but she said that this was her first recruitment "on the other side" so I don't blame her. I didn't feel as strong a connection with the girls I talked to today, but their philanthropy is so sweet. It's something I can see myself being involved with for life. This chapter is still pretty high on my list.
My last chapter of the night was Iron Man. I have to admit, I was pretty nervous about visiting this chapter again, for fear of a repeat awkward conversation like the one from the first night. The first girl that I talked to seemed to have good intentions, but again, it turned awkward about twenty minutes in. I tried to ask her questions about her sisterhood and her philanthropy, but she seemed to kind of close up. The second girl I talked to was hilarious, though! We have a ton of things in common, and she seems like a really accurate representation of her chapter. I'm very on the fence about this chapter.
After my last party, I went to talk to my Rho Gamma about my concerns with Iron Man. She told me that a lot of girls, herself included, were nervous and awkward during their first recruitment. Then I put together that since both of these girls were sophomores who had gone through informal, they probably were very nervous about what to talk to me about. She said that I should go off of the great conversations and connections I had with the other members I had spoken to.
At the end of the night, we were supposed to write down our top 3, then our bottom 2 in preference order. My list ended up being:
Top 3:
1. Batman
2. Hulk
3. Iron Man
Bottom 2:
1. Green Lantern
2. Spiderman
Today I can be invited to up to three final parties, then we write them down in preference order. I'm conflicted about preference, though. I feel like if I were to get a bid to Green Lantern or Spiderman, I would never really feel myself at the chapter. However, I don't want to ruin my chances with my top choices by not writing those two down on my final pref sheet if I'm invited to them. Wish me luck!
