Sometimes alumnae make a FB post on the APH page about trying to help a PNM find someone to write a rec for a missing group...no response. All the recs I've written have been for women attending school in a southern state.

Recs just aren't big around here, and there is little acknowledgement of the worth of a rec written by someone who doesn't personally know the PNM. The chapter I advise gets less than a handful each year.
Sadly, the Alumnae Panhellenic here in Naples has a similar attitude. I have even called members up on behalf of PNMs I personally know, and the answer is still "No." A ZTA sister and I have offered to organize a spring information session for area senior girls on behalf of the Alumnae panhellenic and the answer is "No". They have done the same thing for as long as the group has been organized, and until they all die off-and for most of the members, it might not be that long a wait- things ain't gonna change.

So when I know a great girl who needs recs., I network among my friends who are members of other sororities and we usually can cover all the recs. a girl needs. I have even helped PNMs going to colleges where there is not a ZTA chapter. As we often say, if you can find one sorority woman, she may know others. It is all about networking.
