The big thing that used to conflict at AU was band and there were a lot of girls who wanted to do both. As I recall, the girls would get to attend a few parties, not sure how much choice they had.
My niece made the dance line at Jacksonville State and they let her choose the 3 parties she wanted to attend most on the day of first invitationals.
