I would not do this. You could waste your time pledging for a group that won't give you full membership when you get to UCSB - in other words they just use you to DD and clean up after parties.
I mean, it could work out fine, but then again it also could not, and you would be screwed with no one to turn to (since what you did is technically not allowed).
