My mother had her first chemo treatment today. It seems that the treatment went as well as can be expected. She's in good hands - her oncologist trained at NYU (where my dad went to med school) and Memorial Sloan-Kettering (where my mom practiced for a few years).
My mother has put the kibosh on surgery. She's seen the surgery from the anesthesiologist's side, and she doesn't want to experience it from the patient's side - she'd rather die. But we're hopeful that the chemo and whatever other treatment the oncologist suggests will get her through.
We will just have to take it one day at a time...
