Also, for those of you who have already taken a shot at formal recruitment (or those planning to go through the first time as a sophomore or junior this fall) do consider that the same invites you're not interested in right now could very well be some of the only ones you get this fall. As in, you may be interested in chapters who will be nowhere to be found on your invite list. Taking a shot at formal as a sophomore doesn't always = tons of invites from all the chapters you want.
Not trying to be a downer, but many times I see freshmen being all "I don't like these chapters, so I'll just go through formal" during Spring recruitment, not realizing that the chapters they "really really want" are not the ones taking tons of sophomores during formal recruitment. Also, even if the chapters you "really really want" DO take sophs during formal, they may only be interested in those sophs that they already know.
Just something to think about when considering turning down invites for a "better offer" during formal recruitment. Good luck to you ladies!
