Yep. If you're thinking all the girls in XYZ have super expensive designer gear and you're wearing something fake because you think it'll make you fit in more, it will probably backfire. Most people who own the real thing know how to spot fakes. An actually-cute purse from Target or Forever 21 will always look better than a Canal-street Louis Vuitton, or a Marc Jacobs canvas grocery bag used as a purse just because is says MARC JACOBS (Some girls do this. Don't be them).
I get the feeling that the OP isn't like this though, as she's acknowledging that she doesn't want to look like she's throwing labels around. Best of luck!
