Rec is short for recommendation or reference form. Alumnae members of the individual sororities can complete them and submit them on your behalf to the chapter or reference chairwoman for their own sorority at your campus. Each sorority has its own official form that can only be completed and submitted by a member. Some sororities also allow collegiate members at other campuses to submit them. Collegians at your school cannot complete them, so
do not ask any sorority members you meet this semester to complete a rec for you for their own chapter.
There are many "stickied" threads on this topic under the sorority recruitment forum, but you should start contacting women you know now so that you have time to find willing alumnae from each group. Recs may be expected at some campuses more than others, and they may be necessary for some sororities and not for others. They always help you stand out from the crowd and help the chapters learn more about you before recruitment starts.
