The first day of our second weekend consisted of invite-only parties! So as I’m sure you can imagine I was incredibly nervous to see which groups I was invited back to! During the week my Rho Gamma had called to tell me when to be there on Saturday and I made sure to write the time down. But as I was getting ready that morning I received a call…it was my Rho Gamma asking me where I was! I told her that I thought my party didn’t start for another hour and she told me that it was starting in ten minutes! I was so confused! Luckily, I was finished getting ready, cancelled on breakfast with my boyfriend, and hurried out of my dorm. On the way I checked the voicemail she left me to see if I had written the time down wrong, but I hadn’t. She had just told me the wrong time! Safe to say, I was pretty upset.
Once I got to the student center I ran up to where my party was. My Rho Gamma gave me my schedule and quietly ushered me inside since everyone was already in. The party I was late to was
Draco Malfoy. I felt so bad for being late, but it wasn’t even my fault. Luckily, the girl I was paired with was really nice and understanding. And it definitely gave us something to talk about! We had a good conversation, but the party seemed to end so soon. Maybe because I was late! So I left feeling a little disappointed and like I didn’t experience
Draco Malfoy the way I had wanted to.
After this party I checked my schedule and I was thrilled to see that I was invited back to both
Harry Potter and
Hermione Granger! My top two! In addition to that, I was also invited back to
Draco Malfoy (which I had just attended) and
Ron Weasley. I was a little disappointed about not being invited back to
Severus Snape. I had really wanted to learn more about them! But, I decided to get rid of that thought and just be glad I had gotten invites to the ones I had loved! I know some girls did not and I felt so bad for them. The
Sorcerer’s Stone told me when I saw her later that she had gotten invited back to
Harry Potter as well, and we were both incredibly excited! I was just incredibly thankful that it hadn’t been
Harry Potter that I was late to!
Next up was
Ron Weasley! I was honestly surprised that I had been invited back here. I hadn’t had any good conversations with these girls, so I wondered what had prompted them to invite me back! But I went in and they served some really tasty drinks so I thought it could be a better experience. But once again the girl I talked to could not keep up a conversation with me. I swear, she asked me the same question three times and all I could do was give a nervous giggle every time there was an awkward silence. I was thankful when one of the girls stood up to talk about their sorority, but there was nowhere for me to sit, which made it even more uncomfortable. I was just happy that it helped to pass the time. It was the longest forty minutes of my life and I was grateful to get out there!
Next up was
Harry Potter and I couldn’t have been more excited! This party was being held on the stage in one of the rooms in our student center and the curtains were drawn closed so we had no idea what was going to happen. The
Sorcerer’s Stone and I waited in line with all of the other girls and we could barely contain our excitement. We were walked up the stairs individually and led to the back of the stage where we were then announced by name into the area where all the girls were. A girl came up to us and led us to our seats that had a nametag on them for each of us. The room was decorated beautifully! There were paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling and the lights were dimmed. On the tables were virgin strawberry daiquiris and chocolate covered strawberries. It all just looked so beautiful. Once everyone was announced the conversation started. The girl I was talking to kept up a conversation most of the time but it kind of pittered out halfway through. To be honest, I didn’t really like her, I felt like she was kind of rude and stuck up. Luckily, towards the end they showed a slideshow of their sisterhood and all of the things they did together. It only made me want to be a
Harry Potter even more! Even though I felt I didn’t have a good rusher, I still wanted to be a
Harry Potter. I was just nervous that they would think differently of me now because of this one slightly bad experience.
My final party that day was
Hermione Granger! I was tired but had really been looking forward to this party. We were announced by name again and seated at tables. They had a lot of cute finger foods for us. There was angel food cake and chocolate covered fruit and it was all homemade! I managed to eat some of it but my rusher and I were having such a good conversation that I didn’t really even have time. She was very sweet and I really liked talking to her. They showed a slideshow/video about their sisterhood as well. It was really great, these girls really seemed to love each other. One of the girls who was studying abroad had sent a video and talked about how excited she was for all of us going through recruitment and how much
Hermione Granger meant to her. The video was very sweet and they showed clips from Greek Week where the girls were doing a rope crawl and it was so FAST. My rusher told me everyone would ask them if it was sped up, but it wasn’t, they just take greek week very seriously! I left liking
Hermione Granger more than I had before. I could definitely see myself there.
At the end of the day I was exhausted, but knew my rankings. They were:
1.
Harry Potter
2.
Hermione Granger
3.
Draco Malfoy
4.
Ron Weasley
I really hoped to be invited back to Preference for my top two, but I would have been okay with my number three as well!
Look for an update tomorrow evening.
