D is toward the end of her recruitement, so I thought I would begin to post her story. Throughout recruitment, I have continued to remind my D that it only takes on house, and that she needs to follow her heart regardless of what others are saying. This is very hard for an 18 year old.

The day began with D meeting her Rho Gamma group at 8:00 a.m. to receive their schedules. My daughter had one party and then a four hour break. Wow.

Pitcher: She was so excited to see what "rush" was all about. She "loved" this house and wanted to know how they knew so much about her. I reminded her that she had a recommendation to this house.

First Base: Really liked this house as well. She spoke to a girl with her same major. She said the girl she spoke with liked this house as she could go downstairs and "chill" without makeup.

Second Base:She was not in love with this house. she was not sure why. She liked them, but they did not "wow" her.

Third Base: She loved this one as well. This is known as a "popular" house and she did not know if she would really fit in.

Catcher: This is her legacy house. She was head over heels for this house. She definitely saw herself being friends with these girls. She was double rushed at this house which was her only concern.

Right Field: She also "loved" this house

Left Field: This was a long walk from the last party. She liked this house but did not feel that she would fit in.

Center Field: She knows a few girls in this house from high school. She saw them and waived. This is a more diverse house and she felt very comfortable.

Between Party 8 and 9 she texted to say that she was going to rank 9 lowest. When asked how she knew as she had not been there yet, she said that she knew she would not fit it. It was all popular girls. I told her to wait and see.

Designated Hitter: text said, "Mom, I've got to keep Designated HItter, I felt the connection. She said she also looked around and saw others like her.

On the way to vote, she was able to chat a little. Her main concerns were that she loved her legacy chapter and many other girls wanted to drop them. I told her to go with her comfort and not the comfort of others. She also wanted to make sure that her top (unranked) choices had a mix of reach and "safety." How do you explain that during recruitment there is not safety? She ultimately ranked them:

In no specific order:
Right Field
Catcher
Center Field
1st Base
Designated Hitter
Pitcher
3rd Base
___

Left Field
2nd Base
