We are a literary society, the Euphemian Literary Society - founded in 1839 before fraternities and now functioning as a fraternity-esque presence on the campus of Erskine College in South Carolina.

At the end of the day, I want my brothers to leave Erskine with a character developed through their time as a Euphemian. The events that we host as an organization are ultimately only the immediate expressions of a character - a set of passions, skills, and personality - that should be exemplified in all of us. Ultimately, I think the physical Society exists to provide the resources and opportunities for the brothers to develop and practice their Euphemian character.

So here's what I want to do this year - create in the brothers a practical understanding of what it means to be a Euphemian and focus on events (be it speakers, retreats, socials, or service projects) which exemplify and develop aspects of our character. It's a kind of (Current) Member Education Program and I have no idea how to proceed.

Do you guys have any suggestions or thoughts? Any resources I can access on the web?
