SigEp definitely celebrates milestones too! In my new member materials (and every updated edition), there's always a picture of the 100,000th initiate. On top of that, we got an email when we hit our 15,000th active a year or two ago. I also think I got an email or announcement of some sort when 250,000 was hit a few years ago.
I think it's just a cool thing to celebrate. It (hopefully) shows positive trends and a positive image for the org.
Plus, everyone loves numbers. I feel like our brains just work that way.
